Why Phil Robertson is not a Homophobic Bigot

Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty
Interviewed by GQ Magazine

The suspension of Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty by the A&E Network has caused quite a ruckus. It all started when he was interviewed by pro-homosexual magazine GQ. He said during the interview:

“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong … Sin becomes fine. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,”

He then paraphrasing 1 Corinthians 6:9-10: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers – they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

Well, those quotes drove the homo-fascist lobby completely batty. Naturally, the tolerant liberals and progressives, as they like to call themselves, were screaming bloody murder that a human would dare claim that “homosexuality is a sin”, and that “homosexuals are sinners.” – “Oh the horror of it all! Homophobic bigoted hate speech!!! We absolutely will not tolerate intolerance! He must be fired!”

But Phil Robertson was not saying anything bigoted or hateful because in Biblical Christianity everyone, including Phil Robertson, is a sinner. From a Christian perspective homosexuals are really nothing special since we all have a very long rap sheet. To Christians, homosexuals are just fellow fallen human beings.  The Bible clearly says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God:

“This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” – Romans 3:22-24

Phil was just stating the hard fact that homosexuals are sinners, their behavior is sinful in the sight of a perfectly Holy God, and they must repent and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior to be saved. Jesus said:

“I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

The Apostle Peter proclaimed:

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” – Acts 3:19.

You see, the Lord himself will clean the sinner up over time as he draws closer to God. The reason that the hard left was freaked-out by Phil Robertson’s comments is because (deep down) they know that what he was saying is true, and they absolutely hate him for it. Phil Robertson shared the gospel, proclaimed the truth, and he in effect got fired for it. That proves he did well because Jesus also said:

“Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.” – Luke 6:22

That said, since this is America, I’m boycotting A&E and I strongly suggest Duck Dynasty simply move to another network that isn’t filled with as many wimpy, politically correct, intolerant,  Christian hating bigots.

Let’s be clear. A&E broke the law and violated the 1964 Civil Rights Act by suspending Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty because of his religion. The 1964 Civil Rights Act states:

“It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer – to fail or refuse to hire or to discharge any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual with respect to his compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of such individual’s race, color, religion, sex, or national origin;”

But don’t hold your breath that Eric Holder’s Department of Injustice will do anything about that.

Have a blessed day.
