How to Stop a Holocaust

One man can change a whole lot, even with very little. For instance, in 1989 in China at Tiananmen Square, one unarmed man risked his life and stopped a rolling tank column simply by standing his ground. He did not try to kill or hurt anyone. He simply stood his ground and did what was right. Could he have been killed? Absolutely! But, the tank driver refused to crush the man. Then the man climbed onto the tank and spoke to the driver and asked him to go away and stop killing his people. He instantly became a national hero.

During the Nazi Holocaust, Adolf Hitler sanctioned and legalized the murder of 11 million people, including 6 million Jews. The Holocaust could have been stopped if the German Church and more pastors like Martin Niemöller and Dietrich Bonhoeffer had simply risen up and taken a stand against the evil taking place.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer scolded the Church in Germany for failing to speak out against National Socialism and Hitler’s madness. He said:

“The Church must confess that she has witnessed the lawless application of brutal force, and physical and spiritual suffering of countless innocent people, oppression, hatred, and murder, and that she has not raised her voice on behalf of victims and not found a way to aid them.”

Unfortunately, most Germans did not listen since they were deceived into believing that allegiance to God was best demonstrated by allegiance to the State. The Church instead chose to believe the Nazi lies and covered their eyes and ears to the horrific truth going on around them. They only cared about themselves and just stayed in their own little bubble. Dr. Erwin Lutzer in his book “When A Nation Forgets God” gives an eyewitness account of one such bubble:

“I lived in Germany during the Nazi Holocaust. I considered myself a Christian. We heard stories of what was happening to Jews, but we tried to distance ourselves from it because what could we do to stop it. A railroad track ran behind our small church and each Sunday morning we could hear the whistle in the distance, and then the wheels coming over the tracks. We became disturbed when we heard the cries coming from the train as it passed by. We realized that it was carrying Jews like cattle in the cars. Week after week the whistle would blow. We dreaded to hear the sound of those wheels because we knew that we would hear the cries of the Jews in route to a death camp. Their screams tormented us. We knew the time the train was coming, and when we heard the whistle blow, we began singing hymns. By the time the train came past our church, we were singing at the top of our voices. If we heard the screams, we sang more loudly and soon we heard them no more.” And then the eyewitness shared with Pastor Lutzer, “ Although years have passed, I still hear the train whistle in my sleep. God forgive me, forgive all of us who called ourselves Christians and yet did nothing to intervene.”

Like Nazi Germany, there is a Holocaust occurring in America today. It is called abortion. Over 53,000,000 babies have been murdered since 1973 – sucked up into tubes or chopped to pieces. And like the German Church we have (by and large) ignored the cries and screams of the innocent by simply singing louder and staying in our own bubble. Please watch this astonishing power-packed 33 minute video produced by Ray Comfort entitled “180″.  You will not regret it. Young people are confronted with the absolute truth about abortion by drawing direct parallels from the Nazi Holocaust. It is incredible! They often firmly change their minds concerning the issue of  abortion in mere seconds.

If the Church in America does not stand up, speak out, and proclaim the truth to stop this Holocaust, then who will? Please take a stand, be counted for righteousness, and spread the word.
