Critic: It's Intolerant to Say: "Jesus is the Only Way."

Response: Is it really? For it was Jesus Himself who said: “I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” – John 14:6

Notice how Jesus did not say: “I AM a Way, a Truth, and a Life.”

Oh, but you still think Jesus is being intolerant. Try looking at it this way. Pretend for a minute that you are trapped in a burning house that is engulfed in flames. And through the thick black smoke you see a lone firefighter holding up a burning crossbeam above his head. He is yelling: “Listen Friend! All the other ways are blocked! Hurry! Pass under me now or you will certainly be consumed!”

Would you call the firefighter intolerant and then look for another exit from the burning house? I hope not. The firefighter is simply speaking the absolute Truth about the current predicament you are in. He is trying to save your life. In like manner so is Jesus, just on a much larger scale.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus), that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” – John 3:16-18

Have a blessed day!
